Hi there, thanks for asking. It seems that he has an adjustment problem with his job situation and the stress of finding a new job. It should be clarified if his mood is really low (if he has less appetite, less libido, less concentration ability, less socializing,...). If so, Panex 12.5 which has been given to treat his possible low mood is not enough in the dose. It then may be increased to 25 mg a day. In many cases, its increase may provide more alertness and he may not need modafinil (modalert) during the day. If so, his anxiety level will also decrease since modalert may bring a little anxiety which is natural with these kind of medications. If he is not depressed, he does not need panex and if he does not take it then, his sleep will improve since these kind of medications (SSRI class) can change the architecture of the sleep. I wish him a good health.

That's true, he is facing less libido, very less concentration ability and very less socializing. He has almost no friends and doesnot open up with anybody easily. Even doesnt tell his problem to family members. Rather, never accepts that he has a problem. Parents forced to go for govt job but he is not interested. Cannot concentrate on any work properly. always lost in some other world.
Also, cannot take negative words or criticism at all. Gets very upset on listening any negative words about himself. He asks everybody to remain quiet and not interfere with his work. neither satisfied at home nor at any place away from home.
Is it a sign of depression?
Are the medicines enough or there needs to be some addition or deletion to these?

These are symptoms of depression. You can ask his doctor to change the dose of his antidepressant. Panex is a medication which has been given to treat the depression. Its dose for depression is 25 to 30 mg a day. It should be given in two dose a day (for example 12.5 in the morning and 12.5 at night) to be effective. Best wishes.

Thanks Doc. But doctor, he has been taking medicine for about 5 days now. And he is at high unrest. He is feeling sleepy but not able to sleep. The mood is also very low throughout the day. It seems, the medicine is making him even more restless. Could u plz explain, hw wud dese medicines help him cure his anxiety and depression problem, i mean the working of medicine? Also family members sometimes criticise him due to no job and no marriage yet. so, any suggestions on how to deal with that because, he is not working hard to get next job. He has to be pushed a lot. And he is not ready to listen to anybody.

Hi there, it takes at least several weeks that his mood gets better. His sleep may improve sooner. One of the common side effects of the medications he is taking is that he may get unrest for the first few weeks. The dose of Panex is good for the first 10 to 14 days. If he takes more from the beginning, he may get more anxious. These medications balance some functions of the brain like appetite and energy. After some weeks, the family can talk about the job and other issues with him. All the best.
