Thanks for writing in. Irritation in the eyes is a symptom of many eye conditions.
If associated with itching, it may be due to an allergic aetiology.

A constant foreign body or gritty sensation in the eyes is most commonly a symptom of Dry Eye seen in persons exposed to dry climates, constant computer use and with diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

If there is a sticky discharge, there is a possibility of infection.

If there are no vision complaints, you may start lubricating eye drops in both eyes with a lubricating eye ointment at bedtime for a few days.

Avoid splashing water in the eyes as this only destroys the fragile tear film of the eye that serves to protect the eye from further damage.

Hope this helps. Do revert with anything further I can help you with.
