For What Condition Is Cabbage In Diet Restricted?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Apr 2014
Question: I would like to take my mother out for corned beef and cabbage, but she claims that she was told not to eat cabbage, but she cannot remember who told her that. Could it be because she has diverticulosis? I know that it was suggested that she not eat corn. She is 86 and had a stroke last July and although her memory seems clear I think maybe she made the cabbage thing up as I had never heard her say that before a couple of months ago.

Okay, as far as I know the stroke affected the left side of the brain, but I forget the specifics. She does take thyroid meds called LEVOTHYROXIN and I bam not sure why. She has never had a seizure to the best of my knowledge. She lived in Boyton Beach Florida for over 25 years prior to moving to Palm Coast Florida last August of 2013 after her stroke. She has never had worms to the best of my knowledge.

Brief Answer: Because of Hypothyroidism Detailed Answer: Dear Friend. Welcome Again. Yes, if she takes Levothyroxine, she has hypothyroidism. As i mentioned in my first answer, cabbage is asked to be avoided in patients with hypothyroidism, so her doctor has surely asked her to avoid it because of hypothyroidism.
