Question
I'm two days late for my period, my husband and I have been trying to conceive. I'm feeling cramps and discharge but every time I go to the bathroom to check there is no period. I started off really tired and now I can't even sleep. I'm scared to take a test in case it's too early. Any advise? I'm also experiencing soar and tender breasts. My cycle is 23-25 days. My last period started october20, 2013. I'm afraid that if I get a negative response cause I took the test too early I will let us both down.

Brief Answer: Test with early morning sample... Detailed Answer: Hi, If your cycles are regular, urine pregnancy test after missed period is fairly accurate. You have a better chance of accurate result with early morning first urine sample. Therefore check with the morning samples to minimize chances of false negative result. Do not be worried or heart broken if the report is negative. You can always recheck after 3-5 days. Alternatively you can go for blood hCG check (blood test for pregnancy) which is much more sensitive and more accurate indicator of pregnancy especially during early days. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications. Regards

Brief Answer: Abdominal cramps doesn't rule out pregnancy... Detailed Answer: Hi, Abdominal cramps doesn't exclude pregnancy. A few women during initial period of pregnancy suffer from lower abdominal mild to moderate intensity cramps. Off course, pregnancy is excluded if urine / blood test is negative for pregnancy. At this point of time, it is extremely difficult for any doctor to predict whether the symptoms is that of premenstrual or pregnancy. Go ahead and get the test done. It will put away the worst fears or help you to start the plans for pregnancy again in the next cycle. You should also start taking 5mg folic acid tablets - one pill every day. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications. Regards
