Brief Answer:
Not advised to smoke marijuana.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic.
I am Dr Ganesh.

So what your doctor said might be correct in a way - as there is no direct link to say that smoking of marijuana will effect on the vascular stent.

But usually even tobacco smoking itself will cause the vascular occlusion / blockage in long term. Same thing apply to the marijuana there will not be any immediate effect on the stent, but on long run it may effect on the vessels - as there is risk factor of having stent, possibilities are little more.

There are other side effects / negative effects of marijuana other than vascular cause like central nervous system and cardiac causes.

Any addiction is never recommended by a doctor - but if you ask any direct effect ? then the answer is no direct effect ( as far as i have gone through the literature )
Recommended to stop smoking if you can able to do so.
Good luck

Hope i have answered your query.
