No, FINASTERIDE and TAMSULOSIN don't give false positive readings for PSA. It is the cancerous growths of the prostate that cause elevated or positive test results for PSA. And we have to keep a record of serial PSA levels to see if the numbers are increasing, decreasing or staying the same.

It has a diagnostic as well as therapeutic value in the clinical setting to rule out the disease of prostate and to see if the given therapy is working good or not.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. For any disease you have, a timely follow-up is necessary regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is a need to change treatment options. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Always write down my name in start of your questions at this forum & I will be with you in no time).

Brief Answer:
It has the symptoms of lower urinary tract Obstruction !!!

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for adding a follow up query here. I am more than glad to assist you today.

To see the clinical picture of raised PSA levels we have to see the causes of raised PSA. One is BPH-Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (not a cancer).
The clinical manifestations of BPH are symptoms of lower urinary tract e.g:-
Increased frequency of urine.
Urination at night time and also increased frequency at daytime.
Hesitancy and Urgency of urine meaning to start with the voiding urine is very problematic and also patient is unable to control urination.
Stream of the urine while voiding is very weak and malformed (splitting or spraying of the stream).
Straining to start voiding urine.
Dribbling afterwards when finished voiding.
These symptoms appear slowly and gradually progress and become severe over years.

Other cause of raised PSA is prostatic cancer and has the same symptoms as aforementioned. Some patients may have blood in urine or blood in semen. Bone pain in the pelvic region is also a symptom in some patients with cancer of the prostate or if cancer have come from some other site in the first place (metastatic cancer).

As far as the treatment is concerned, a trained Urologist can decide it for you after having thorough case details. Without digital rectal examination and any other diagnostics it is unsure how to proceed for the treatment. Yes, seed implant itself is a good option but it doesn't fit for all. Your Urologist is the personnel who is trained to answer it in a clinical setting while having the benefit of opportunity of having the patient in office.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts.
