Does Prolonged Ace Proxyvon Intake Cause Any Side Effects?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 May 2014
Question: Are there any adverse side effects of prolonged intake of ace proxyvon tablet? I have been taking one tablet once a day for the past six months or so for relieving my ankle pain. I have not experienced any discomfort or faced any side effect so far. But my daughter, a medical practitioner, advises me against taking it on a regular basis. She says that prolonged intake of any pain killer can lead to liver malfunctioning. Can you advise, please?

Brief Answer: Yes,NSAID causes liver damage in long term usage. Detailed Answer: Hello there, Thanks for writing to us, Ace proxyvon is an NSAID [Non steroidal anti inflammatory drug] with combination of aceclofenac, paracetamol and rabeprazole, used as a pain killer to relieve pain. The aceclofenac and rabeprazole has no major long term side effects .But the paracetamol is a hepatotoxic [liver injury] drug causing hepatic necrosis in long term use, so it causes liver damage in frequent and prolonged usage. It is advised to take NSAIDS only on severe painful occasion, also advised to try painkiller without paracetamol in combinations. NSAIDs can also affect kindey function and can also cause gastritis. It is essential to do liver function test at least once in 6 month to know your liver status. Hope helped you, Take care. Dr.surendiran.g

Can you suggest a safer pain-killer/pain-relieving drug (NSAID) for my pain in the heels due to tendonitis? Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer: NAPROXEN Detailed Answer: Hello there, Welcome back, Every NSAIDS have its own side effects, but you can use the drugs for relieving pain by reducing there frequency as I said already. Naproxen [COX1 AND COX2 inhibitor] is an excellent NSAID to control pain and has minimal side effects as compared to any other NSAID to relieve pain. It would be unethical and inappropriate to prescribe you scheduled drugs without doing a proper examination,so try to take drugs under supervision of registered practitioner after proper examination. Hope helped your query, You can contact me anytime, if you need clarifications or further assistance in future. Kindly rate and leave your feedback for the answer if you are satisfied, Take care. regards Dr.surendiran.g
