Question: if pancreatic cancer has spread throughout the body would something be wrong with your blood work
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ivo Ditah (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, depending on where it is spread to!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

The blood workup in primary pancreatic cancer is often normal. however, should it spread to other organs, you would be able to identify changes in the blood workup depending on which organ is affected. For example, if it affects the liver, the liver markers would increase like bilirubin. Should it affect the bones, markers of bone destructions would increase. Otherwise, there is no standard blood manifestation of cancer of the pancreas.

In all, blood abnormalities are not common with cancer of the pancreas. In cases of spread to other organs, abnormalities would be closely related to the consequences of the cancer on the affected organs.

I hope this addresses your query fully. If you have any further worries, do not hesitate to state them for further clarifications.

Brief Answer:
This is NOT pancraetic cancer related!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up information.

Please, this is in no way related to pancreatic cancer. The cardinal signs of pancreatic cancer are severe weight loss, abdominal pain and yellowish eyes. You have found a solution to your problems, taking time to eat. This is very important and at times we truly neglect it. Please, take time to care for the body before it throws you off. At 21years, pancreatic cancer without any other strong reasons or risk factors would be a new page in medicine.

Relax. Be calm. Eat well and all would be well. Drop the notion of any possible cancer, this in itself is enough to provoke cancer related symptoms and digestive symptoms.

I wish you well and feel free to keep the discussion going if need be.
