Does My Urine Analysis Report Indicate An Urinary Tract Infection?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 May 2014
Question: I have just received results from urine analysis. The doctor was an Arabic speaker, and Im an English speaker so he wasn't able to explain what the results meant. I'm a little worried about them. Urine analysis says the following: Reaction: Acidic Albumin: slight trace Pus cell: 40-60 HPF RBCs 0-1 hpf; Epithelial cells 8-10hpf; Casts = pus cell casts. And just says Bacteria present.

Funny thing is my bladder feels fine. I have no sign of urinary tract infection. I went to doctor for a lung infection. When offered anti-biotics, I requested a pathology report first. Dr was very concerned about my urine results. He prescribed anti-biotics. I'm not sure what to do. I have been feeling very unwell for about 6 days. It definitely feels viral and is travelling around my body a bit. Hope you can help me to understand the situation.

Brief Answer:
Your reports say that you have urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Thank You for consulting HealthcareMagic!

Your reports say that you have urinary tract infection. Though you do not have any symptoms related to urinary tract infection, still it is possible. Anyhow, no need to get very worried. Just follow the course of antibiotics given by your treating doctor and everything should be fine.

What about my lungs? And how bad is the urinary tract infection, according to these results. How come there are absolutely no symptoms regarding this infection, yet my throat and lungs feel very sore. Is the urinary tract infection likely related in any general way to other bits that hurt? Or is it something, that has come to light because I requested the lab test? What exactly are all the possibilities?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is incidental finding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Or is it something, that has come to light because I requested the lab test?
Yes, it is incidental finding. Your UTI is not very bad. Can be easily managed with the course of antibiotics given by your doctor. But, follow up with him. I do not think that there is relation between your lung, throat related problems with this UTI. Perhaps it is just myalgia related to the infection.

Be reassured.

Take care!
