Does Low HCG Level Cause Delayed Periods?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Oct 2014
Question: Sir this is my 3rd IUI. When two IUIs undergone, the period was not delayed and it came by 31st day itself. But this time today is 35th day. When I tested urine test on 34th day, it was negative. My condition is no symptoms for periods and symptoms of pregnancy. Also, disorderly proliferative endometrium was there 8 months back. Then only my doctor advised me to go for IUI. I am having only one ovary since in 2012 I had tubal pregnancy, that time doctor told me due to endometriasis severe, i had tubal pregnancu and then missed abortion in 2014 January. Now using both oral 100mg and 200mg vaginal progesterone tablets. Is this get delayed of periods or due to low HCG level I could not get positive result in 34 days. Or should I wait upto how many days to get the positive result? What should i do now? Please suggest me

Brief Answer:
Get serum HCG levels evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
At 34 days in an IUI cycle the pregnancy test should have come positive if there was a pregnancy. I would suggest you to go for a blood test for pregnancy- Serum beta HCG estimation which is a more accurate test for pregnancy. In case the levels of HCG are undetectable in your blood then you can stop using progesterone after consulting your infertility specialist.
Stopping the progesterone therapy will help in starting of periods after 3-5 days.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
