Brief Answer:
Large herniation or propalse in rare cases can cause constipation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concern.

As per your query large disc herniation or Prolapse can cause constipation. So it depends on the reports of your MRI.
However normally constipation is not cause by lumbo-sacral spine problem but if herniation or prolapse is very large it can cause constipation.

Please attach report of your MRI so that i can go through it.

Secondly you are on Nortyptalline and Baclofen.Though not ask yet constipation(severe) is side effect of both these drugs.
Kindly attach reports and mention the duration of your symptoms with follow up question.
Please mention whether constipation started after taking medicines?

Waiting.
Regards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
As you have history of constipation from from more then 7 months most likely in your case it has no relation to your recent disc problem and its medications. To make stools loose take lactulose 15ml once daily at night. Its a laxative and would make your stool soft and easy to pass.
I don't think its related to you disc problem.
However i would like to go through your MRI reports once.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Follow up answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This means that time of development of constipation is same as the time of start of disc problem. So there is a possibility that a part of the spinal nerve giving branches to intestines is injured leading to problem in bowel moments.
But only way to confirm it is a PET scan of nerves in abdomen but its a very costly test and is usually performed at very higher centre.
And even in case you find it out.Treatment will remain the same.
One more thing drug of choice for sciatica is pregabalin 75mg and Methylcobalamine 1500 mcg combination. Is there any specific reason that your doctor started you on Baclofen and Nortyptalline.
However in the mean while start taking lactulose for relief in constipation.

Thanks.
