Brief Answer:
vaoium to be avoided at 69 year age

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using health care magic.

From the available description I feel Valium should ve avoided after 65 years of age. I do not mean it is completely contra indicated but thereis definite risk of fracture and fall dueto use of valium. For purpose of sleep it is better to use low fose trazone or ambien 6.25 mg.

In addition I feel proton pump inhibitor shouldbe preferred rathar than ranitidine. They are more potential and have definite edge over ranitidine. I generally prefer omeprazole 20 mg to be taken empty stomach when somebody receives anti depressant as in your case.

I hope this helps you.
If you have any questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
Escitalopram/Fluoxetine is better choice

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Although all antidepressants have almost equal efficacy in various anxiety disorders but for a person with predominant gastrointestinal symptoms I feel SSRI group of medication will be better choice. Among SSRI I feel you can discuss escitalopram or fluoxetine with your doctor.

For immediate control of anxiety and to replace valium Klonotril (clonazepam) can be used for initial few days to weeks.

I hope this assists you further.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.
