Does Intake Of Mucinex Help In Curing Severe Cough?
Question: My husband is being treated for scabies with Ivermectin 35 mg which he took 5 pills of last night. Tonight he take the tube of cream called Permethrine 5%, however he has a terrible cough that continues to not stop. Is there something I can get him over the counter that might slow the cough down. We can not get into a doctor till next week. I was thinking about Mucinex or A cough drop or lozenge or what ever would be available.
Brief Answer:
Can give mucinex, dextromethorphan and lozenges
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and you can safely take mucinex for cough.
Besides this look for a tablet or syrup containing dextromethorphan to suppress cough.
You can also give him lozenges containing menthol and eucalyptus oil.
These all will help in relieving his cough.

Thank you very much. My concern with him taking the harsh medicine for the treatment of possible Scabies 'I was concerned there might by contraindications. It seems that the listed over the counter cough suppressants will be ok with other powerful medications. Should he also continue to take the Prednisone pills for itching? Only 2 every morning. Is Scabies as super contagious as I have read?
Respectfully,

There is such a lack of physicians in this town that this is great. I feel he should remain inside and away from others with all this illness going on , would you agree
My husband has been seen by a Dermatologist but not a Family practice doctor due to lack of them in this town. Trying other towns.
