Does Intake Of Cefdinir Cause Hearing Loss?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: I am taking Cefdinir antibiotic for the next 10 days due to sinus infection and sore throat. Is there any risk of damaging my hearing with this drug. I have very poor hearing (born deaf in one ear - dead nerve, loss of some hearing and tinnitus in my other ear).

Brief Answer:
Does not damage hearing.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Till date there is no Ototoxicity (damage to hearing) reported by people who take Cefdinir. So you can continue to take it. However, sinuses have poor blood supply and hence medicines like these can hardly reach there. The best is to take steam inhalation. Water in form of vapor reaches deep inside and helps by diluting the mucus.
