Question: I have 4 fibroids (2 on lining) and have been prescribed cerazette pill in July. Didn't have a period for 3 months and got a period in November bled for 3 weeks and stopped the pill and still have a light period, have period nearly 5 weeks. I'm discharged from the hospital as fibroids not growing. Will the bleeding stop and could I take noriday?

Brief Answer:
Noriday will not help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns as to when bleeding will stop and noriday.

Following is my reply:

1. Main problem with fibroid is they cause excessive and prolonged bleeding as you are experiencing. The current episode of bleeding to me seems due to fibroids and not the pills.

2. Your bleeding is unlikely to stop unless you get the fibroids surgically removed by a procedure called myomectomy.

3. You might find temporary benefit from pills like noriday or cerazette; but are not long lasting.

4. In situations like yours where there are multiple fibroids, myomectomy is best option.

5. Noriday is unlikely to help you. I won't recommend taking noriday.

6. Though fibroids are not growing further they are causing enough problems already and needs to be removed.

Let me know if you have any more doubts.

Regards,

Dr. Soumya
