Does Elevated Prolactin Levels Cause Missed Periods?

Question: I am 45 and have missed my last two periods. First time ever. My bloodwork shows an elevated prolactin level...that is all. Is this normal?

If you have excluded pregnancy high levels of prolactine are associated with missed periods.
You should consult with an endocrinologist because you may need to treat high levels of prolactine.

Are higher prolactin levels typical in perimenopause? My doctor has suggested that it could potentially be from the pituitary?

Higher prolactine levels is from pituitary,probably is a microadenoma.
