Brief Answer:
please clarify about medication and drugs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Taking drugs with anti-depressant medicines can worsen the depression. Possibility of drug-drug interactions are also there. Nodict is used in treatment of alcohol and opioid dependence. First of all you need to stop the drug abuse. For deaddcition it better to take indoor treatment so withdrawal symptoms can be managed easily.

You are young man and suffering from depression.

Let me know,

- Which drugs have you abused until now? What are the drugs you are taking right now apart from medicines? Also tell me route, dose and frequency of drug abuse.

- For what nodict has been prescribed to you?

- What was the reason for depression (any social, economical, relationship, study/work or emotional stress)?

- For depression which medicines have you used until now and in what dose?
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Brief Answer:
yes stopping the drugs will keep your depression away

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for information and extremely sorry for delayed response due to some unavoidable circumstances.

Your history clearly suggests that your depression is drug induced. Proxyvon is opioid and it can cause depression. Ritalin 150 mg is very high dose and I think you have written something wrong. It is very much abusive drug and should not be taken in this high dose. Please clarify about the retalin.

Nodict is not harmful. It is rather use to keep the person away from drugs. Taking XXXXXXX and smoking cigarette can also contribute to depression.

You need indoor management during which treatment of depression, deaddiction treatment and motivational counselling session can be done and relapse of depression can be prevented through help of counselling by keeping you away form the drugs.
You need course of anti depressant medicine like fluoxetine or escitlaopram to treat depression. You can stop it as per doctor's guidance after you improve.

Yes if you will stay away from your drug there is rare chance of depression.

Please consult psychiatrist, discuss my recommendation and move forward.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
need change in treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for clarification.

If you are not improved even after taking sertraline 150 mg for 4 months, there is need of change in treatment. I recommend starting mirtazapine or desvenlafaxine. Sertraline can be reduced to 100 mg. Please do not take any drugs or smoke. If you have problem in stopping smoking, bupropion is also good medicine. Please discuss these suggestions with your psychiatrist and change the treatment.

You can stop the medicines gradually after you improve 100% and you remain normal continuously for 6 months.

Feel free to discuss further.
