Does Cervical Infection Cause Vaginal Discharge?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: I've been having a watery discharge for almost a year now. Ive taken flucazone ( for yeast infections, believed to have been gotten from taking antibiotics on and off due to ear infections I've been having), and I've been prescribed Metronidazole gel(& it comes back out green) several times, yet the watery discharge hasn't disappeared. Sometimes the discharge has a smell and other times it doesn't. It seems it changes day to day (not even week to week). Could this watery "discharge" possibly ,really be urinary leakage and causing BV?? Also, I have a tilted Cervix and I have the Mirena....could these things have a affect?!Also prior to this past year, I previously only have had BV or a Yeast Infection twice in 30 years. I've been tested and no STDs (Never had one). I'm frustrated with this. Please help!!!

Brief Answer:
The discharge needs to be investigated

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
Iam Dr.Srilatha gynaecologist.I have gone through your query.
It is good to know that the STD are ruled out.
In my opinion as the watery discharge
is recurring it might be investigated.
It might be due to bacterial vaginosis or any other inflammation.
The investigations like microscopic slide examination, culture and sensitivity of the discharge might help in accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Pap smear also might be helpful in ruling out any cervical abnormalities.
Long standing cervical infection also leads to profuse vaginal discharge. The speculum examination helps in ruling out any cervical inflammation or infection.
As the discharge is watery it might not be fungal infection.
Nothing to worry. With apt treatment it will subside.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
Best regards...Dr.Srilatha
