Posted on Wed, 2 Nov 2016
Question: Hi, after a risky relation i had some sympthoms that made me afraid of hiv. I took a lot of hiv tests.
3 weeks- 4th generation.
4 weeks- antibodies.
2 months- antibodies.
9 weeks- 4th generation & PCR.
3 months- antibodies.
6 months- antibodies.

All came back negative.

My question is if i can be sure that i'm not infected with hiv. I've readed a lot of information on the web so i'm really confused about the window period.

Thanks a lot.

Brief Answer:
You are safe

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

Window period should not concern you.

If you had PCR after 9 weeks and antibody after 6 months which are negative then you can be sure that there is no HIV infection.

Wish you good health.
