Question: I am having vertigo for 3 mos. now. It has gotten so that when my two XXXXXXX dachshunds bark it causes me to have terrible vertigo. I have had an MRI of the brain and it was fine. But, the neurologist that I just saw said I have non positional vertigo and he gave me the epley exercises to do. I have only been doing them for three days but am not getting rid of the vertigo. The loud dog barking just started about a week ago and it really makes spinning awful. Does a brain mri show the ears. I am thinking I may have a tumor in my ear somewhere.I have been to ear doctor and he said I had menieres disease. Neuroligist said no, it is non positional vertigo. do not know what to do next,

Brief Answer:
You should go for inner ear MRI .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM

MRI brain doesn't include detail study of ears.It can detect only few diseases like mastoiditis etc.
Vertigo is related to internal ear and routine MRI brain is not the investigation of choice.
You should go for MRI of inner ear which can detect diseases like meniere's disease.
It is important to exclude meniere's disease by MRI of inner ear if there is clinical doubt.Contrast study can be done if needed.

I assume that all probable causes of vertigo has been excluded in your case like hypertension,Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV),migraine etc.
You can take second opinion if there is difference in opinion regarding cause.

Treatment depend upon findings.
