Question: Does tramadol cause red bloodshot eyes? Ive been on it a couple weeks now and within a few days of starting the tramadol i noticed my eyes became very red. They are not itchy. I tried visine and other various eye drops, nothing is taking the red out.

Brief Answer:
May be drug sensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Tramadol is narcotic type analgesic given for mild moderate pain. There is no direct eye problem reported. but the drug is contraindicated in known drug sensitivity. Main side effects are respiratory depression , nausea vomiting. In your case it appears to be drug sensitivity which in your case manifests as red eye. Even if there is no itching, it appears to be drug sensitivity. As you have given history you have developed eye problem after starting the medication. It is advisable to stop the drug and with consultation of your treating doctor you can have another analgesic like fortwin, combiflam or hifenac p. You should improve on withdrawal of drug
