Does Toprol XL Interact With Vitamin Supplements?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Mar 2016
Question: Dear Doctor,
Thank you for your reply & suggestions. I had all the tests you suggested earlier & just recently wore the Zio XT heart monitor for two weeks suggested by the DO (by the way what does DO stand for?
I saw my PCP last week, he prescribed Toprol XL 25mg - which makes me very drowsy.
My question today is: Is it safe to keep taking my vitamins? I would really like to as over these many years they have helped me.
Thanks again,

doctor

Brief Answer:
To reconsider the dosage of toprol, send the name of vitamins in.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Glad to hear from you again and that you have done all the suggested tests.

1. DOs stands for Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. They are specialized in whole -person approach trying to work closely with the patients by understanding their needs and problems and finding individual solutions.

2. Toprol is the brand name for metoprolol which is a beta blocker. It will stabilize your heart rate if it was found high as per the heart monitor you did. If it makes you feel drowsy, it means that your heart rate is dropped at the lowest range. I advise to get back to your PCP to reevaluate and change the current dosage of the toprol.

3. With regards to vitamins, can you please send the name of the vitamins you are taking snd respective ingredients?

Thank you!
