Does HIV Test Done After Eight Months Post Exposure Show Conclusive Results?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Dec 2014
Question: This will be a long one…..In February 2014 I had unprotected vaginal sex (I am a male), I was tested for HIV 5.5 months past exposure (July) 7 months past exposure (September) and 8 months past exposure(October) All tests came back negative. They were the antibody tests. Now In july(about two weeks before my first HIV test) I was shocked electrically at work (high volts, low amps) much like a taser or car spark plug. At this point I became ill, fatigue, constipation, loss of appetite and some weight loss (about 5 or so pounds). I found this read: http://www.rife.de/lab-test-results-of-hiv-inactivation-by-electric-current-from-appendix-e.html

which states that "In this report, we present the results of double-blinded studies on the use of direct electric current to alter the infectivity o£ HIV-1 for susceptible cells in vitro. Two lymphoblastoid cell lines (H9 and CEM-SS) were exposed to aliquots of the RT strain of HIV-1 treated with direct current. Results of these studies show that virus treated with currents from 50 to 100 microamperes (ìA) has a significantly reduced infectivity for susceptible cells. " I was wondering if this would have ANY effect on the antibody test. Or could I consider myself conclusive HIV Negative? From the time of my last possible exposure until I was tested was 5.5 months, from the time I was shocked at work until my last test was just shy of 90 days.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
Free from HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
I have gone through the article. It is reducing the infectivity of hiv1.So it is not reducing the ability to for antibodies. So antibodies will be formed ,as virus if present will create antibodies.More so it is still invitro test.Still needs further studies to be proved.
You have repeated the tests repeatedly after exposure to both current and virus.Last test is 8 months after exposure. No antibodies are detected.
So you are free from HIV .Allay fears totally.
You can get back for any clarification

Nope that's perfect, I figured since HIV was in your organs and tissue etc. The body would still create the antibodies, and that test seemed to have specific times and temps as well as you stated also invitro

One last question, how many months is considered conclusive? A lady who I believe who handled phone calls told me it could take up to two years before the antibodies are present. But on every site i've read I've read that it takes up to 3 months in 97% of people and in very rare cases it takes 6 months. This is also per CDC.

I'm also very high Anxiety, do you think this could cause me to feel run down a bit? Ever since my electrical shock I've had very few days that ive felt "100%". For the most part I try to eat right and take vitamins, although I also haven't been sleeping right due to the anxiety. Have you heard of this before?

Does it matter what generation rapid test it is? The one I took was a clearview stat HIV 1/2. It's a 2en gen test with a 99.7 sensitivity. Is 5.5 and 7 months for this test still conclusive?

Do you know what generation tests most labs use?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bharatesh Devendra Basti (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Conclusive.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.
Generation does not matter .
Most use either 2 and or 3 rd generation. Some use fourth generation.

I have one more question just wondering but:

1) is there a certain time period in which symptoms will show?

2) are there certain symptoms everyone shows? If not what are the most common ones

3) how long after you show symptoms would you test positive (if you had it).
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bharatesh Devendra Basti (9 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Symptoms are varied and may be asymptomatic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
Many remain asymptomatic.
The symptoms are non specific .
They may present with weight loss, persistent diarrhoea or cough , some infections in unusual site or severity, or opportunistic infections, Generalised lympadenopathy.etc.
The symptoms are varied and varies with each individual.
The tests can be positive without symptoms .
Many symptoms may be due to some other infections.

I've read only 14% or 1 in 7 show no symptoms?

Also, can you show symptoms and still test negative (on average)

Is there a general time line as to when you'll show symptoms ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bharatesh Devendra Basti (25 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No time line but depends on cd4 counts.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
We cannot be sure of percentages of persons with symptoms.
There is no time line for symptoms to appear.
As the cd4 counts decreases the symptoms start appearing.
Usually symptoms do appear when Cd4 counts fall below 200 or 150.
Symptoms can be due to other infection or diseases, so tests can come negative. If infected with HIV tests will come positive as discussed earlier.
Thank you
