Question: Multible Drug interaction warnings for Diltiazem . 60 mg serious use alternative interacts with Simvastatin 20 mg, - Multaq 400 mg - Digox 125 mcg I am concerned about this prescription for my 83 yr old mother . She is also taking 100 mg Metoprolol Tartre ,60 mg Diltiazem , 5 mg Eloquis I will talk to her doctors but now I am afraid to give it to her. What alternative is there that may be safer ? Correction There are 5 serious interactions and 14 closely monitor warnings
I have a call into a VNA nurse who has been checking in on her. We need to know if we can just stop this drug until we get a response from her doctor . I know we have to follow her doctors instructions

Brief Answer:
your mother seems to have Hypertension, Ischemic heart disease and failure

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HCM,
From your query, your mother seems to have Hypertension, Ischemic heart disease and heart failure.
Sometimes many medications need to be given in such patients. Doctors are aware of side effects and interactions.
My concern is that Diltiazem, metoprolol and Digoxin all lead to slowing of pulse. So primarily her pulse rate needs to be monitored strictly.
Please do not stop her medication suddenly. It can be dangerous.
Discuss with your Cardiologist about risk of slowing of pulse (bradycardia).
Please revert back. Regards
