Question: My husband has been treated with chemo etoposide vand carboplatin for 6 sessions 3 days each we have heard that there is a flavonoid in beer thst is especially good at attacking some cancer cells. Also we have read that alcohol can cause largyneal cancer. His diagnosis is 63 year old male with largyneal cancer stage 4 that has metasticiced to the liver and lungs the lesions in the liver responed wonderfully to the chemo treatments the lungs did not respond so my question is would drinking 1 ale beer a day be worth looking into as helping his body fight this cancer? He has never really drank much all his life but has smoked 1 pack a day

Brief Answer:
NO, Not at all. It will deterioriate the case more and more.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Flavonoid, although not much literature available to support its use may cause some benefits for some cancers. If it has any benefits in preventing the cancer, it will not affect at all on stage 4 cancer and that too already metastasized so extensively.

IN SHORT, SMOKING AND DRINKING ALCOHOL IS DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HUSBAND.

Rather, alcohol use will cause the fatty liver disease and will cause badly damages liver parenchyma that will deteriorate the case even more. And, you will lose the benefits of the chemotherapy too by damaging the healthy liver and making liver less functional.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns. I will be happy to get back to you shortly. If satisfied here, please give a five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
