Do Anabolic Steroids Have Any Role In Tooth Enamel Mineralization?

Question: Dear Dentist,

I have a question regarding brief anabolic steroids i had during teen years ( wisdom teeth formation years) .

Did it impact or have any role in tooth enamel mineralisation ?

Only reason i ask is teeth remain with us forever, doesnt turnover, and any impact ie mineralisation is therefore permanent. Looking forward to your opinion. thaks and Regards, XXXX

Tooth development occurs with coordination of various hormones & enzymes.Calcitropic hormone is the main hormone responsible for tooth development.Steriods bind to the protein part of this hormone required for development of tooth, hence hamper mineralization.
Steriods are habit forming & also affect immunity. Hence are contraindicated while tooth development.
Moreover the effect produced is permanent & irreversible.
