Brief Answer:
MRI spine can be done...physiotherapy helps

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Pain in back may be due to taking a wrong posture while sitting, may be some times due to abnormal jerks while riding a bike. Apart from spondylosis, sometimes there is prolapse of intervertebral disc causing compression over the spinal cord and nerve roots causing pain.
The diagnostic procedure of choice is MRI scan of the part where pain is felt, like cervico-dorsal if in neck and chest region, dorso-lumbar if in chest region and lower back region or lumbo-sacral if in lower back including sacrum.
The treatment of mild to moderate disease, of any of these type is back extension exercises. In acute disease hot fomentation may be needed along with some muscle relaxants. In severe disease may be needing some corrective surgery.
For servical spondylitis, you may wear cervical soft collar during your work and remove it while sleeping. physiotherapy will be helping here too.
Vit. D supplements can be taken in your case....

Best wishes

Brief Answer:
Hard bed rest is recommended.

Detailed Answer:
For CS rest means rest to paraspinal muscles with a workout of those muscles who keep the spine in correct posture. Cervical collar is also a type of rest to that part..I think you must go for a physiotherapy along with.
For rest backache a hard bed rest is recommended.
