Hello,

Thanks for your query.

It will be very helpful for me in understanding your daughter’s condition better if you could answer some of these questions:

1)     Were there any complications in her birth and was she born premature?

2)     Is there a family history of childhood hearing loss?

3)     Is there any history of ear infections or did she have infections such as meningitis or cytomegalovirus ?

4)     Was she exposed to very loud sounds or noises even of brief duration?

5)     Is she having unexplained irritability and pulling at her ears?

6)     Is she having any other neurological symptoms like seizures, tics, vocal problems etc?

7)     Did she have any recent head trauma?

Most likely it can be due to hearing loss which can be assessed by an ENT specialist but if she is not responding to other commands like touch, speech, pain etc then a complete neurological examination needs to be done.

Hope this answers your query. Please do get back with these answers so that we can help you in a better way. Wishing you good health.
