Can Surgery Cure Post Nasal Drip Coughing?

default
Posted on Sat, 28 Jun 2014
Question: Can I get surgery to permanently stop my post nasal drip coughing? I would be able to tolerate it so much better if the allergy snot rainout of my nose rather than a continuous stream down my throat. I am already on every antihistamine in the book, nasal sprays, and immunotherapy.
This is having a major affect on my work, sleep, and entire quality of life.

Brief Answer:
Depends on the cause,

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!
If the issue recurs again and again it needs a little otorhinolaryngological exam for any anatomical issue like deviated nasal septum or any nasal trouble and i am sure the issue will fix. The sinuses assessment and the allergen specification is needed to prevent the trouble and recurrent allergic rhinitis and cough. Also the GERD and Asthma and bronchitis needs to be ruled out as an etiology for the cough. Get to an otorhinolaryngologist for the further management.
Now the allergic coughs and non response to antihistamines and every antiallergic by the book, I suggest you try some recent advancements like subcutaneous and sublingual therapies for that, they have been shown to work like charm.Get to an allergist and immunologist for deciding what is best for you.
I hope it helps.Get to an otorhinolaryngologist and let them decide what is best for you.if everything fails and cough comes up to be idiopathic then the options for interrupting the cough reflexes would be used.
Take care and don't forget to close the discussion please.May the odds be ever in your favour
