Can Radiotherapy Cause Tremors?
Question: Hi, I am a 47 year old woman and I have stage 4 melanoma. I underwent bio-chemo 3 years ago, and several surgeries on my liver; along with brain radiation. I have been remarkably lucky, and have been healthy for awhile now, but I have tremors at night that wake me up, sometimes it's mainly my heart, and other times it's my whole upper body and arms. Could this be a neurological side effect from the treatment? It was very severe and I had a horrible reaction in the end that nearly killed me.

Hello,
I had one gamma knife treatment in January 2014. That was to treat a 9mm brain met. I take celexa 5 mg a day for depressions. I am not sure about the Xanax, as I don't take it very often; as it seems to counteract the Celexa and cause more depressive symptoms. I don't seem to have muscle weakness really; and am very active and have regained most of my pre-treatment strength.

Tremors you have could be due to the radiation you underwent. Since, you have recovered from the motor weakness, the tremors too will disappear but does take time.
No medications can help to get rid of the tremors.
The palpitation you complain of, should be investigated for. It could be an entirely different problem. You may have to start with an EKG.
