Can Prolonged Use Of Birth Control Pills Cause Breast Cancer?

Question: I have been on birth control a long time now like 15-20 yrs on and off while i had my kids.
My question is does this increase my chance for breast cancer? Should i get off it?

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
There is a slightly higher incidence of breast cancer seen amongst women who have used birth control for a longer period of time.
This risk is still however, very low, when seen as an absolute figure.
Also, the risk is higher if you use high estrogen containing pills, and have a strong family / past history of breast cancer.
I would not be worried for you if you have no other contributory high risk factor.
