Can Penis Ring For Erection Problem Causes Blood Clots?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 May 2014
Question: I am 62... on aspirin therapy (one 82mg per day) as a result of a pulmonary embolus several years ago. I purchased a penis ring, which helps improve the firmness of my erections. I leave it on no more than 30 min. As a result of my blood being constricted using this device, I was worried about the possibility of developing a blood clot. I've already consulted with a hematologist and would like a second opinion. My hematologist said "no problem" but I wanted to make sure.

Brief Answer:
it is safe to use the penis ring!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pulmonary embolism you suffered. Before getting to the worry of today, what was the cause for this blood clot? Also, why have you been on this medication for 4years? Do you have any blood clotting abnormality that has mandated the use of this medication? 4years without any clear reasons seem too much per the guidelines for pulmonary embolism. You may be taking aspirin for some other reasons and not strictly for pulmonary embolism. Ask your doctor about this.

30mins is very small to cause any significant stagnation that would result in a blood clot. You can safely us it if the only fear is this blood clot. We often fear clots in persons who experience stagnation for more than 6hours like on long flights without changing positions. This is clearly not the same case with you.

About dropping your blood pressure, the greatest fear is when you get to use nitrates and Viagra together. You are not using this combination and there is no other reason for you to get worried about this. Are these medications that you get to use at the same time at some point? Please, also provide me with the list of other medications for review.

In all, 30minutes is not enough time for clots to become a real threat. Your pressure may drop if you take Viagra and nitrates together but this doesn't seem to be the case with you. Be calm and feel free to use the ring as needed.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be. Thank you so much for using our services.

Thanks so much, doctor. The origin of the embolism was unknown. I was taking Coumadin for nearly one year, then my doctor suggested that I stop using it. I take no other medications except 81 mg. aspirin only. My internist is a cardiologist and said that at my age (62) an aspirin couldn't hurt.

As far as the penis ring, thanks for your response. I will use it with no fear. I was possibly looking for a med that was safe with ED...but I'll try the penis ring instead.

Brief Answer:
True, aspirin wouldn't hurt at your age!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up.

It is true that aspirin would not hurt at your age. It would help protect the heart and has been shown to have great beneficial effects on the heart.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and do keep me updated as you go through this process.
