Can patients with Thalassaemia Minor Trait,donate blood?

I have thalassemia trait - microcytic, hypochromic with MCV in the low 60s. RBC count is high. I am not anemic. Is it OK for me to donate blood?

Brief Answer: YES YOU CAN DONATE BLOOD. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. As long as your Hemoglobin is more than 12 gm % ( mg / dL ) , then you can donate blood. Patients with Thalassaemia Minor Trait are not ineligible to donate blood. All the best. Take care.
