Posted on Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Question: Hello, I am about to have a biopsy for my lost voice. Is it at all posible, should they find cancer and depending on the type of cancer it may or may not be. Can it be removed with laser surgery (voice box) and may it be treated without chemo / radiation????

Brief Answer:
Recent investigations report helpful.

Detailed Answer:
welcome to Health care magic.
Dr Ganesh.

1. Its not usual to have another cancer / malignancy in presence of one - secondary are possible but not another primary.

2.The loss of voice could be thickened vocal chord with any infective / inflammatory cause. Viral cause can't be ruled out.

3.If its planned for a BIOPSY - means doctor has found a growth. Benign / Malignant any thing is possible ( cancerous / non cancerous ).

4.First wait for the result before jump into conclusion - in worst case chemo / radiation will be given.

5.Generally its removed by open / operative for better cure and avoid recurrence. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
