Question: Hello sir,
I was suffered from jaundic duration(15 march-10 April) last month. In between I got periods on 25th march. And after that I do sex on 9 April and now I don't get periods. And today on 2 may I did pregnancy test and a faint line appear. I am really confused that what is actual result. Is my periods delay due to jaundic and I want to use medical abortion using mifepriston. Is this safe process or complications will reach. Kindly help me

Brief Answer:
Repeat home pregnancy test or do blood beta-hCG test.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) At first, you should repeat home pregnancy test or undergo blood test for beta-hCG to confirm pregnancy as you did sex around fertile period. In my opinion, jaundice is NOT the cause of late period

Faint line on pregnancy test is always doubtful. You CAN'T take abortion pills or Mifepristone WITHOUT confirmation of pregnancy as it may cause ill-health effect.

2) Medical abortion can be done by abortion pills successfully up to 9 weeks in 95% cases. However, it should be done UNDER supervision of local gynecologist (need proper direction and complete prescription) and it will help in emergency situation.

There will be some adverse effect like excessive bleeding, abdominal cramp, vomiting, fainting etc which CAN'T be controlled at home WITHOUT doctor's supervision.

Hope, I have answered your query. Wish your good health and take care. Review with test result or consult with local doctor.

Another question I want to ask what are the chances that doctor find that patient has took the medical abortion by using medicine. As I know that medical abortion is just a spontaneous misscarge.

Brief Answer:
Doctor may know if complication arises during medical abortion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Welcome back again.

If you don't have any problem or complication during medical abortion with abortion pill or doctor doesn't inquire about this during your health check up, then there is NO chance of knowing that.

However, if you have excessive vaginal bleeding, blood clots, remnants of conception product or incomplete abortion, then your doctor may need to examine and he/she may find it.

Hope, it helps for your information. Good luck and take care.
