Brief Answer:
may be stress induced irregularity...explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
PCOS is a symptom complex of irregualr menses, hirsutism, acne, hyperandrogegism and polycystic ovaries. Irregular menses alone cannot be considered as a PCOS diagnosis. The menses in PCOS are generally delayed and often anovulatory. The diagnosis has to be confirmed post an ultrasound pelvis for polycystic ovaries and a hormonal profile estimating teh serum testosterone levels and of course the clinical signs of acne, acanthosis nigerians and hirsutism.
If PCOS is ruled out, the most likely cause of irregular menses can be just stress itself, be it psychological , emotional, social, physical and professional, all can contribute to hormonal imbalance during the month and can cause irregularity ( be it early or delayed ) in menses.
So you may get yourself evaluated first.
