Can High Dose Of Vasogarin Be Taken For Migraine?

Question: Doctor I have severe pain of migraine, can I take vasogarin more than 3 in a day . I start feeling drowsy as soon as pain started.Moreover medicine is not helping due to high intensity of pain.

Brief answer....you can take 4 tablets of vasograin in a day ( ergotamine 4 mg )

Thanks for the query.

VASOGRAIN tablet contains ergotamine tartrate 1 mg, caffeine 100 mg, paracetamol 250 mg, prochlorperazine maleate 2.5 mg.
You can consume 4 tablets in a day.
Since ergotamine has many side effects,it is not used for longterm now because much better and safer medicines like sumatriptan,rizatriptan etc are available for treatment.

If you are having more than 3 episodes in a month,then you should take preventive treatments like flunarizine or propranolol etc.

I would advise you to consult a physician or a neurologist for the proper management of your migraine.

Thanks for the information doctor, but once pain subsides I feel heaviness in my neck & shoulders which is more irritating as compare to pain. Second I feel tingling on my tongue after medicine & very bad taste. Last time I puked 5 time since pain started.

Please let me know how to manage it.

Hello,
That is the reason I am advising you to change to newer medications as they are much better with very few side effects.
Puking can be offset by simultaneously taking an antacid like PANTOPROZOLE 40 mg or RANTIDINE 300 mg.
Consult a physician and start taking preventive measures of migraine.
