Can High Dosage Of Crestor Be Taken For High Cholesterol?

Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: I'm 68 female, and I've had liver problems (presently ok) and am successfully treating high cholesterol / triglycerides w/ 20mg daily of Crestor. Would any of the generics (that would save ~$500/yr) but probably require a higher dosage level be a risk for me?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

My opinion is that using the generics you will have the same effect with the same dose. There's no need to increase the dosage to gain the same effects.

Please keep in mind that Crestor is the brand name for rosuvastatin. After ten years of exclusivity the inventors of Crestor should sell out the formula of active principle (rosuvastatin) so the generic medication can be produced. This is why the generics have the same chemical formulas and dose as the brand name crestor.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
