Can Breastfeeding Be Started 72 Hours After Taking Crystal Meth?
Question: Hi I'm currently breastfeeding, I had crystal meth for a couple of days in a row, is pumping and dumping for 72 hours after my last intake of the meth enough before I restart breastfeeding?

Crystal meth is excreted in breast milk and about 0.2% of the mother's dose comes into the breast milk. It generally remains in breast milk for 24 hours. Although it can cause irritability and restlessness in babies, it is not recommended to stop breast feeding in case you have taken just a single dose of crystal meth since the negative effects of stopping breast feeding are much more. In case you hold breast feeding, it is recommended for only a couple of days. So, if 72 hrs have already gone you may re-initiate breast feeding again.
