Can Alcohol Be Consumed When Taking Neurontin For Polyneuropathy?
Question: does drinking alcohol with taking neurotin (4800 mg daily) for poly neuropathy cause severe problems? My husband may drink 4 beers a day and I notice he is very unsteady on his feet by the end of the day, although they are numb.

But what is more important is that alcohol is a cause of neuropathy and if he continues to drink the neuropathy with get worse. I strongly urge your husband to stop all his alcohol use.
He should continue to take the Neurontin as prescribed by his physician. He is on a high dose of medication and should not reduce or stop the dose as the neuropathy will escalate.
