Can Zoloft Be Taken For PTSD And GAD?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: I have been taking 10mg of lexapro for 10 days. I have not noticed any improvement or change as yet in helping with my GAD as well as mild to moderate depression and possible ptsd. Will 10mg be enough or should I be taking more? Would Zoloft be a better med and how much is the standard dose for that?

Brief Answer:
May need increase in lexapro

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are currently being treated for PTSD and GAD with Lexapro. you have been on it for 10 days and not noticed any change. I would recommend staying on this medication for a little more time. I would also recommend if no improvement to increase your lexapro to 20mg at the end of 3 weeks if no change. There is no reason to switch to zoloft at this time because you have not given the lexapro a full therapeutic trial. Before increasing your medication I do recommend you discuss this with your provider.

I have been taking the lexapro at night but the past two nights I have started having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Should I be taking the lexapro in the morning?
