Brief Answer:
Vitamin B12 sublingual tablets can be taken along with Pantocid.

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.

Vitamin B12 1,000 mcg sublingual tablets can be taken along with Pantocid by
placing one tablet on or under the tongue without actually swallowing it.
So, it SHOULD NOT BE SWALLOWED ALONG WITH PANTOCID.

Wheres to be more effective, Pantocid should be taken orally one hour before breakfast.

Since Enzar Forte syrup contains digestive enzymes it is to be taken with the meals or snacks so that it helps the process of digestion thus preventing indigestion, flatulence or bloating.

Thank you doctor Dr. XXXXXXX Taher XXXXXXX

As you had mentioned, it was prescribed to me also that 1 Pantocid to be taken before lunch, at least 1 hour before. And the syrup, immediately after morning breakfast and evening dinner. This was prescribed by a local doctor.

I had to some other town and here one of my friend who had been taking Vitamin B12 suggested that because I feel weak, continuous mood swings, very less immunity and lack of proper sleep, suggested that I taken 1 Vitamin B12 (NEURORITE) by placing in under my tongue without swallowing it.

My question is:

When I was looking for methylcobalamin Vitamin B12 sublingual, I came across an article which said that taking Pantocid - Pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate, this medicine may reduce the absorption of Vitamin B12 and hence it was advised not to take any anti-ulcer or gasteric medicine while having Vitamin B12 as it might not be absorbed effectively in the body. Hence the doubt.

Should I stop pantocid? If not, when can I take Vitamin B12? - Morning after breakfast.

Brief Answer:
Don't stop taking Pantocid.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Hello XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your kind reply.

I really appreciate your curiosity in looking for the side effects of Pantocid pertaining to Vitamin B12.
Keep it up!!

Yes, on prolonged treatment Pantocid can cause deficiency of Vitamin B12.
This applies to reduce absorption of Vitamin B12 found in our foods like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products from the intestines.

So, do not stop taking Pantocid, take it as prescribed by your doctor i.e. One tablet to be SWALLOWED one hr before lunch.

Regarding Vitamin B12 sublingual tablet (Methylcobalamin):

When placed over the tongue or underneath the tongue to dissolve, the medicine directly enters into your blood WITHOUT ENTERING INTO INTESTINES hence even if you take Pantocid orally simultaneously, Pantocid WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH ITS ABSORPTION from the oral cavity because Vitamin B12 DIRECTLY GETS ABSROBED into your blood from the oral cavity.

In other words Sublingual preparations of Vitamin B12 are not absorbed from the intestines hence can be taken along with Pantocid but by different routes.

You may take Vitamin B12 tablets either at breakfast or dinner.

Hope to have answered your query.

Thank you so much Dr. XXXXXXX Taher XXXXXXX Really appreciate your detailing and explaining the working of the medicines. I feel so convinced now, because I had this doubt in mind whether the B12 would be absorded because of Pantocid. You have answered it beautifully.

One last question, - Pantocid and Enzar was prescribed by the doctor for a month to see. But Vitamin B12, how long should I take. The one that I have has 60 tablets - one each a day would be like for 2 months. Can I continue beyond 2 months or would it be over dosage?

Brief Answer:
Yes you may continue to take.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Hello XXXXXXX Hi

Thanks for your compliments.

Since Vitamin B12 is mainly found in the foods of animal origin, I am not sure whether you are non vegetarian, in that case I would have advised your to take those foods rich in vitamin B12 which are already mentioned.

Since Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin it is not associated with over dosage like thing you may continue to take it.

I hope your doubts are clarified now.
So a feed back is appreciated in the form of rating the answers.

Best regards.
