Question: Hello, a urinary infection with Enterobacter cloacae sbs cloacae can give rise to pielonephrithys? How serious concern it might be? Thank you

Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Urinary infection with that bacteria can extend upstream and can cause pyelonephritis .
Pyelonephritis is upper UTI affecting the kidneys.
It's definitely not a minor illness . But can be treated easily with intravenous antibiotics.
Usually treated for atleast 7 to 10 days.

Repeat urine culture after the course to see if it is gone.
Wishing her speedy recovery.

The problem is that the antibiogram shows it is resistant to most of the antibiotics...

You need to give her those which are sensitive.
It's a multidrug resistant bug .
Definitely iv.
I hope there is atleast one or two antibiotics which are sensitive. If you can upload the reports, I will be better able to help.

Meropenem would be the best choice

Detailed Answer:
The report says it is sensitive to ciprofloxacin ,norfloxacin, imipenem and meropenem.
Meropenem would be the best choice to give for at least 10 days.
