I am sorry to hear that you are suffering with anxiety and depression. You are also being treated fro Hypertension with Toprol XL. Toprol XL is a beta blocker which blocks adrenaline. Since it stops the adrenaline it can be used to help anxiety and panic attacks. So for your panic or anxiety Toprol is actually helping. But Toprol can depress some people because of stopping the adrenaline and slows a person down. I think though that the depression side of your problem is probably the more prevalent I would recommend discussing possible switching of your medication to something other that a beta blocker. There are numerous other medication that can treat hypertension withour causing depression.
