Can Telmisartan Be Taken Instead Of Olmezest?

Question: i am using olmezest 40h from last 5 months ( previously there was no medication) and my blood pressure under control showing below normal even abnormal normal after longwalk in the morning can i continue or reduce dose or change medicine telmisartan 40 as suggested by doctor. By using olmezest i am feeling strain/stiffness in my legs is this due to drug?

Hello,
Thanks for asking on HCM.

Olmezest or olmesartan may occasionally cause fatigue, back pain,leg pain cramps or stiffness but it is quite uncommon with the usage of telmisartan.

Also telmisartan is much better to reduce blood pressure and also reduces the cardiovascular events with long term use despite both are same group of drugs.

You can change the tablet to telmisartan rather than reducing the dose of olmesartan.

Can i reduce 40 mg to 20 mg as my BP IS BRLOW NORMAL. IE 117/73 in most of the time

Yes,you may reduce the to half (20mg) and should check the blood pressure for 1 week to see the response of that dose.

But before taking half dose,you should ask to your treating doctor.
