Can Sermion And Doxycycline Be Taken Together?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2015
Question: I am on doxycycline twice a day for Lyme. I just tested positive and doc wants me on it for 6 months. After that I will probably quit since I believe if you don't catch it early it can't be killed no matter how long you are on antibiotics. But I digress. What I really want to know is if Sermion (nicergoline) is toxic if taken with doxycycline. I know there is a warning out there but have only been able to verify one case that they think the combo was responsible for adverse reaction.

I like sermion because it helps with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and how they affect the clarity or disturb it of my thinking. I also like modafinil for chronic fatigue and Piracetam helps both fibro and CFS. I also have type One Diabetes and Hypothyroidism. Naturally I would like to continue taking the Sermion but am not really familiar with any antibiotics so wanted your opinion. Can you help?

Brief Answer:
Nicergoline has no interactions with doxycycline.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this diagnosis of lyme disease and all the symptoms you have reported. Sermion is safe to take with doxycycline. Medications that are discouraged not to be taken with nicergoline are vasodilators used in the treatment of hypertension and you are definitely not on any of such medications. Feel free to take both medications together and know that you run no extra risk being on both.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
