Can STD Or HIV Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sex?

Posted on Thu, 22 Jun 2017
Question: Hello. I engaged in a brief sexual activity with this guy I don't know very well, and I would like to know the risks of it. First of all, he washed his hands before we did anything. Then, we kissed for a bit and he pulled out his penis. Then, I stopped the whole thing, and we were just kissing again. Then, I let him touch me down there, I'm a female. There was no penetration with his fingers, just some stimulation. He used the same hand he touched his penis with though. There were no visible sores or semen or anything on his penis. We didn't do anything else, and I washed myself afterwards. Should I be worried about any STIs from this encounter? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Please don't worry there is no risk for HIV and other STIs but just HSV2.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!I have been through your question.

Regarding your concern, you should know that if you don't have a vaginal sexual intercourse there is no risk to get STIs mostly but just probably HSV-2(since he didn' t have symptoms or sores and semen contact).

So, in your situation, I think it is better to ask him first (if you can)for any STI-related history to be surer.

I hope my answer helps you.
Feel free to ask me further.

Regards.

Thank you. So just to make it clear, the only possible risk is for genital herpes?

Brief Answer:
The most probably risk is to get herpes (HSV).

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you writing back in healthcare magic.

You should know that STIs spread by skin-to-skin contact include oral and genital herpes, HPV, molluscum contagiosum and syphilis.

But based on your sexual history without contact with semen and without lesion or sores in skin and genital area I think that the most probably risk is to get infected by herpes (HSV) . It is known that the partner can get herpes infection even without symptoms.

I hope my answer helps you.
Regards.
