Can Paxil Lead To Weight Gain?
Question: I have been taking Paxil 25 mg cr for 6 years. I have gained 12 lb am uncomfortable with this weight gain
as I am a petite woman. What is an alternative medicine.

Usually antidepressants do not lead to weight gain, but few patients due to sedentary life style get it. In your case, this could be the reason. In that case, you can try another antidepressant like fluoxetine or esciatalopram. I would go for fluoxetine due to least tendency of weight gain among antidepressant. Better to discuss with your psychiatry about the cross tapering off the drugs to avoid withdrawal or relapse of symptoms.
