Can Mirena IUD Help Eliminate Cold And Boils During Menstruation?

My daughter has been prescribed a chlorhexidine wash 2x/wk and topical bactrim for the external nares. I understand this is sometimes recommended for HCW's to eradicate S.Aureus from the skin.
Are there any potential problems with this approach ie. the re-populated microbial fauna is unknown . Could one apply a probiotic yoghurt wash to the skin or some other form of beneficial bacteria to increase ones odds for a healthy biota ? I read that a strain of S. epidermidis has been used on the external nares and keeps S.Aureus in check.
My daughter is not sure how much of the nares is cleaned with the topical cream. I thought is was just the exposed surfaces. Couldn't an alcohol based hand sanitizer do the same thing ?
Other thoughts:
Could bathing in sea water keep population of skin bacteria down and be beneficial for skin health?
Periods are hard on my daughter. She has had colds develop at time of menses and boils start to come out at this time. Could a Mirena IUD help alleviate the difficulty of her cycles and potentially reduce chances of getting ill?

The method you've described is used most of the times. The results are far from certain. There is another (more aggressive method) that has achieved an 80% eradication rate but it also involves taking antibiotics by mouth.
You can hope that the staphylococcus won't come back but you can't be sure. That's why repeat swab cultures are used to identify the pathogen after treatment and measures are taken to avoid contracting it again.
There had been a discussion about the utility of other bacteria that could compete with unwanted pathogens but this idea has not proven itself and - as far as I know - is not still utilized or researched.
Mupirocin application involves the internal part of the nose (not only the exposed surface). Using the little finger to apply the ointment and applying external pressure afterwards helps the drug spread around and decontaminate the area.
Alcohol hand sanitizers should be used for the hands of the person that helps the "patient". The "patient" should follow the directions she's been given because the specific measures have been tested and proven effective.
I don't know any medical study or have not read anywhere in a medical book that sea water helps with staphylococcus, so I can't confirm that.
Regarding her periods I don't believe that using the intra-uterine-device will help with staphylococcus.
