Brief Answer:
You shouldn't use Meloxicam and a steroid.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back here at HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Let's say, after trigger point injections, improvement of symptoms is expected and only one painkiller (Meloxicam a NSAID drug in your case) should be sufficient to ease symptoms and control post procedure discomfort.

In addition, you are treated about GERD and high blood pressure too, and steroids worsen these conditions, so, in my opinion you should not use steroids.

If worsening of symptoms, drugs that don't affect GERD and high blood pressure should be added to control pain (Tramadol, Codeine etc.)

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.

Doctor can I follow up?
I had the trigger point injections Tuesday in lower back area.I cant see that it helped much. . I am to get an MRI of lumbar tomorrow morning, Saturday, ordered due to nerve pain in buttocks and some down back of right leg to knee. Sometime the paim is hardley noticable, but when I bend over from the waist, while I am standing up, it can fire up both buttacks pain like someone sticking a knife in your buttocks...both sides. Or while sitting, if I stand up to a full stand, it really hurts in both buttcoks. Occasionally, it will effect inside of right leg down to knee.
Should I do any light stretches? I have some I know from my previous PT last year.
Is it ok to walk inside lightly on an inside track?
Ok to use heat?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
You can start light exercises.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and surely you can follow up.

I guess you didn't had any physical activity since your trigger point injections, and f so, rest didn't help too much.

In cases of sciatica only few days rest is recommended, so you can start light exercises ( stretching ones are recommended ), and walking too.

Only remember that any exercise, or position, or physical activity that causes or worsen your pain is not good, because it worsen the condition too.

So, avoid exercises, positions and activities that cause pain and amplificate exercises, physical activities that make you feel better and don't cause or worsen pain.

Avoid for a while massaging your back and buttocks too.

Heating pads should help in improving symptoms.

Hope I helped you.

Best regards.
